Directions and Campus Information
Directions
The CNL Laboratory is in Marie Mount Hall (Building 046), adjacent to the University Chapel, at the lower end of the main Mall of the University of Maryland. The lab is in 3 suites of rooms - Room 1413, Room 1419 (child studies), Room 3416 (includes MEG Laboratory). Please call (301)-405-6901 if you are having difficulty finding us.
From North (via I-95)
Follow I-95 south until it reaches the Capital Beltway and splits into two directions. First follow the signs for I-495 West towards Silver Spring, but stay out of the rightmost lane. Before joining the Beltway proper, take a left exit towards College Park/Route 1. This exit is rather winding, but after following it around a number of turns you reach Route 1 South. Continue south on Route 1 for around 2 miles. When Route 1 intersects with Paint Branch Parkway/ Campus Drive, turn right into the main entrance to the campus.
From South & West (via I-495 Capital Beltway)
Exit Capital Beltway (I-495/I-95) at Exit 27 onto Route 1 South, towards College Park. Continue south on Route 1 for around 2 miles. When Route 1 intersects with Paint Branch Parkway/ Campus Drive, turn right into the main entrance to the campus.
From Downtown Washington DC via Metro
Take the Green Line towards Greenbelt. College Park Metro Station is the second-to-last stop on the Green Line, and is about 15 minutes walk from the Linguistics Dept. and the CNL Lab. Exit the Metro Station on the west side. Take any street away from the Metro station towards Route 1 (Baltimore Ave.). Enter the U. of Maryland Campus from Route 1 at the gate opposite the Maryland Book Exchange. Follow the road up the hill. The Linguistics Dept. and the CNL Lab are in Marie Mount Hall, which is the first building on the left after you pass the University Chapel.
Parking
Visitor Parking
Unfortunately, visitor parking at the University is currently fairly limited, especially during peak weekday hours. Options are (i) attended visitor lots (better during peak hours), (ii) metered spaces (worth a try at off-peak hours).
Currently, the most promising attended visitor parking area is in the Stadium Garage. At the "M" rotary at the middle of campus, turn right onto Regents Drive. Take the second left onto Stadium Drive (immediately after a large parking garage on the left). Continue up Stadium Drive past the football stadium. The Stadium Parking Garage is at the far end of the stadium.
At off-peak hours, you may be able to find a parking meter either on Chapel Road, just beyond our building (Marie Mount Hall), or on Regents Drive, just beyond the chapel, or in the Visitor Center, entrance on Route 1, just south of Campus Drive, in front of chapel. If you park at a parking meter, be sure to check that the meter is appropriate to the duration of your stay. Some meters only allow 30 minutes or 1 hour stays. There is a color-coded sign at each set of meters.
Deliveries or Permit Parking
If you have a permit to park in the CNL Lab parking space, or if you are making a delivery to the CNL Lab turn left at the "M". After passing the end of the University Mall, turn right onto Chapel Drive. The CNL Lab is in Marie Mount Hall, which is the first building on the right on Chapel Drive. To reach CNL parking space or loading dock (for deliveries), turn into Parking Lot "W" at the side of Marie Mount Hall. The CNL parking space will be on your left at end of a row of service parking meters. It is clearly marked by a sign. Do not park there unless you have a valid permit - the parking attendants are extremely vigilant, and they give $200 tickets.
