Welcome
What is Mayfest? Every year the Linguistics Department of the University of Maryland organizes a state-of-the-art linguistics workshop. This year's Mayfest is a Wh-fest, devoted to various phenomena in wh-studies, focusing on syntactic and semantic issues. Our invited speakers, all experts in this area, will present some overview of particular modules of wh-studies (e.g., locality in wh-movement, semantics of wh-phrases, superiority, among others), highlighting unresolved issues as well as presenting some of their recent work on the subject. We anticipate a productive workshop where many challenging issues receive a thorough look from a variety of perspectives.
